Home:Projects:Gentoo/SPARC Diskless Install

The idea behind this project is simple: set up a diskless install of Gentoo for SPARC, meaning that the computer loads everything over the network, from bootloader over TFTP to system files on an NFS root. As such, it is heavily based in the theory set forth in my guide on the topic. This will not make it into that guide because of how specialized it is, which is why I'm documenting it here instead. I have made one attempt at this before, but it was unsuccessful primarily because I chose a 64-bit userland and GRUB is a nightmare to deal with. I fully believe that I will be successful, should I opt for SILO as my bootloader in place of GRUB, which was impossible in the first attempt because SILO requires a 32-bit userland to compile. In the future, I will be attempting this same project but with a 32-bit userland to allow for the compilation of SILO.
